Where we write about everything and anything to do with LegalSounds; such as offers, updates, amendments, problems, news, you name it, we blog about it. The good and the bad bits. If you think there is something missing, or just want to ask a question, please feel free to contact us or find us on twitter.
So first off, what is LegalSounds?
Well for those of you that don't know, LegalSounds is a music download site that offers over 3,364,421 mp3s. It's well-known for being one of the cheapest places online to buy mp3 songs safely. And not just any old poor-quality songs either, songs that will work on your iPod, iTunes library, iPhone, MP3 Player, Laptop, or anything else you have that plays mp3s.
What's the cost of music?
LegalSounds offer tracks for just 9¢ each. Not just the older music and unheard of stuff, every single mp3 on the site is going to cost you 9¢, regardless of length, artist or anything else. That works out to be almost $1.00 cheaper than iTunes per song. Or if you're really picky, 1100% cheaper. But who's counting when it's so cheap!? Albums on the site are very cheap too, but there is no album discount; if an album has ten tracks, it will cost 90¢.
Why aren't more people using it?
That's exactly why I've made this site, to spread the word and news of the cheap music world on the web. Most people don't realise that iPods can have any music added to them, not just tracks and albums brought through the iTunes service. All you need to do is import the tracks into your iTunes library and they are ready to be added to your iPod like any other song. Those of you with a bit of computer savvy will know what to do, but for those of us who need a little push in the right direction, here is a more detailed guide of how to do this: iTunes Help Guide.
How is this different from iTunes?
LegalSounds works a bit differently to iTunes for several reasons:
You do not need to download anything from LegalSounds except your mp3s. No iTunes software, no extra help features from apple, just music. This saves space on your pc, and more importantly, time spent downloading iTunes. Time that could be well spent listening to music or even better, downloading more!
You can save the tracks you download anywhere on your pc, so they can then go onto a disc, onto your phone, or wherever you like. You're not restricted by the iTunes software.
With LegalSounds, you pay an amount of cash upfront, not per track, so you don't need to keep paying a little bit each time, you top up once and use it till you run dry. This means you can download music anywhere you are by going to the LegalSounds site, then downloading it onto your pc from your account later. You do not need to be on your iTunes with your login on your own pc or laptop.
All tracks are DRM free so they can be used anywhere or copied as many times as you like on any mp3 playing device. iTunes have recently scrapped their DRM protection, but song prices have gone up as a result. No thanks!
So, what's the catch?
Well, there isn't really a catch, the only downside I guess would be that fact that you have to top up a minimum of $25.00 to your account in order to start downloading music. If you only want one song at 9¢, $25.00 does seem excessive. However, that is enough for 277 songs from the site, so it's worth it in the long run! The same $25.00 top up would get you just 25 tracks from iTunes. So, if you're after a lot of music, a few albums, or plan to download more in the future, Legal Sounds is definitely the way to go. The amount you add to your account never expires, so you can use it whenever you like. You can pay on LegalSounds using Visa or MasterCard and it is very secure.
Freebies, Bonuses & Offers
Everyone loves a freebie! And LegalSounds are no exception. The minimum top up of $25.00 may apply, but if you're feeling a little more well-off than usual, or just have spare cash to blow, adding more money to your LegalSounds account can definitely work out worth your while. Depending on how much you top up, you can get up to 200 free songs to use on the site however you see fit. So what can you get:
Top up $39.00 to get 50 free songs, top up $50.00 to get 80 free songs, top up $100.00 to get 200 free songs or top up $200.00 to get 2000 free songs
But that's not all, LegalSounds also have a great feature on their site that other music download sites just don't have and that's a Free Song of the Day. The songs changes everyday and as a customer, you can download it for, you guessed it, free! Great news!
